The new faces committee aims to help newcomers, and not-so-newcomers, feel at home and among friends at Shira Hadasha. Our goal is to help you feel welcome, become integrated into the community, to provide practical advice and assistance, to offer hospitality, and to help direct you to members that can help answer your questions and meet your needs.
Building relationships and integrating into a community takes time, and the new faces committee hopes to help you along the way.
Twice a year, the committee organizes a "Be a Guest, Be a Host" shabbat, in which members choose to host or be guests for a Shabbat meal, and we do the matching. It is a great way to meet other members of the community. We are also developing a program in which people new to the community will be assigned to members who will offer a friendly face at shul, a spot at their table, and will help you settle into the community.
In addition to the structured programs, the new faces committee members are available to answer your questions and offer guidance at any time.
